Redacting Metadata
In addition to visible content, documents often contain hidden information—known as metadata—that can include author names, creation dates, revision history, and more. Redacting metadata ensures that no sensitive information remains embedded beneath the surface of your document.
Accessing Metadata Redaction
To redact metadata:
- Open your document in the editor
- Click the wand tool in the top menu
- Select Redact Metadata from the dropdown
Selecting Metadata to Remove
A table will appear displaying the available metadata fields. From here, you can:
- Review all detected metadata
- Select specific fields to remove
- Choose multiple entries for bulk removal
Finalising Changes
After making your selections:
- Save your changes to apply the redactions
- Once the document is closed, the selected metadata is permanently removed
Why It Matters
Metadata can unintentionally expose sensitive details even after visible content has been redacted. Removing it ensures a more thorough and secure redaction process, helping you maintain compliance and protect confidentiality.
